Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (JUFE) is one of the oldest financial universities in China, with a focus on economics and business administration as well as embracing disciplines of law, engineering, humanities, natural science, education, philosophy, history and arts. It can be traced back to Jiangxi Provincial Commercial School founded in 1923, which was later developed as Jiangxi Institute of Finance and Economics in 1958. It was renamed as Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics in 1996. It came under the joint administration of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Education and the People’s Government of Jiangxi Province in 2012.

JUFE is located in the heroic city of Nanchang, on the east bank of the Gan River , adjacent to Meilin Mountain with its misty charm in the west, bordering on Lushan Mountain with its elegant grace in the north and reaching out to the soul- inspiring Jingang Mmountain in the south. It has four campuses, namely Jiaoqiao Campus, Meilu Campus, Fengling Campus, and Qingsha Campus, with a total area of 360 acres. It has a collection of 4.91 million copies (including electronic ones) in its library. Because of its natural environment, JUFE was awarded National Top 300 Best Afforested University.

Over the past 90 years, JUFE has developed into a comprehensive university. It is composed of 21 schools, including School of Business Administration, School of Public Finance and Public Administration, School of Accountancy, School of International Trade and Economics, School of Economics, School of Finance, School of Statistics, School of Information Management, School of Tourism and Urban Management, School of Software and Communication Engineering, School of Foreign Languages, School of Humanities, School of Law, School of Arts, School of Physical Education, School of Marxism, MBA School, International School, School of Vocational and Technical Education, School of Continuing Education and School of Modern Economics and Management. In addition, it has 23 research centers, that is Contemporary Finance and Economics Press, Research Institute of Jiangxi Economic Development, Research Institute of Industrial Economics, Research Institute of Higher Education, Research Center for New Energy Technology and Application, International Institute for Financial Studies, The Collaborative Innovation Center,  Research Center for Regulations and Competition, Research Center for Accounting Development, Research Center for Financial Development and Risk Precaution, Research Center for Industrial Cluster and Enterprise Development, Ecological Civilization and Modern China Research Center, Research Institute of Poyang Lake Ecological Economics, Fiscal and Tax Research Center and so on.

JUFE offers 49 undergraduate programs, 119 master's programs and 30 doctoral programs. It has 5 post-doctoral mobile research stations, specifically in, Applied Economics, Theoretically Economics, Management Science and Engineering, Business Administration and Statistics. JUFE was the first authorized university in Jiangxi to offer MBA and EMBA programs respectively in 1998 and 2009. Among its 1567 faculty numbers, 246 are professors, 431 are associate professors, 69 are Ph.D. supervisors and 427 are postgraduate supervisors. 2 are awarded National Outstanding Teacher, 24 are granted Special Government Allowances of the State Council, 2 are listed as National Model Teacher, 2 are listed in the National “One-hundred, One-thousand, Ten-thousand Talent Project”, and 3 are included in the Ministry of Education's “New Century Excellent Talents Support Project”.

JUFE has made great achievements in scientific research in recent years. In 2013, 25 research projects were approved and sponsored by National Social Science Fund (NSSF), ranking No.1 for 16 consecutive years in Jiangxi province, No. 16 national-wide and No. 3 among all universities of finance and economics. In the past three years, JUFE obtained 3 major bidding projects and 4 key projects funded by NSSF. Findings of 10 NSSF projects are included into Research Findings Briefings, which are used as reference for central government officials. In the past 6 years, over 100 research projects were approved and sponsored by Ministry of Education; over 600 papers were published in international and domestic quality academic journals, such as Science China, Social Science in China, Xinhua Digest, Economic Research Journal, Management World and Chinese Journal of Law, 150 of which were awarded Outstanding Research Achievement Award by Ministry of Education and Jiangxi Province. The Journal of Contemporary Finance and Economics were selected as National Top 30 Journals of Social Science and Top 100 Academic Journals by Press and Publication Administration; Journal of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics was selected National Outstanding Journals of Social Science, both journals were source journals for CSSCI. With its discipline strength, talents strength and intelligence strength, JUFE focuses on economic, social and cultural development issues in Jiangxi, conducting in-depth research, providing valuable research findings and suggestion to government, enterprises and management departments, fully playing the role of think-tank and solution bank, greatly enhancing JUFE’s influence, contribution and reputation in serving the local economic and social development in Jiangxi.

The total full-time student enrollment is 30,000. In both 2002 and 2007, JUFE received a straight-A score in the Undergraduate Level Teaching Appraisal by the Ministry of Education. JUFE has 8 National Top-rated Courses, 3 National Bilingual Model Courses, 3 National Teaching Teams, 1 National Experiment Education Model Center and 2 National Innovation and Experiment Area for Talent Cultivation.

JUFE has attached great importance to the internationalization and has established academic relations with 85 universities in 18 countries and regions, including the Australian National University, the State University of New York, the University of Southampton and Lancaster University. Since 1998, JUFE was approved to offer Sino-American and Sino-Australian MBA programs. In 2010, JUFE became the first member in China Mainland to join the International Student Exchange programs (ISEP), which allows JUFE students to go abroad for exchange study over 400 universities and colleges (among which 170 are from the U.S) in 42 countries and regions. Since 2009, ratified by Overseas Test Centre, China Ministry of Education, JUFE has become one of the biggest TOEFL test venues in the country. In 2011, JUFE was also approved as a GRE test centre, providing the most convenient shortcut service for those students planning to study in the foreign countries. In 2002, the International School was founded, offering the four experimental classes of International Accounting, International Business, International Finance and CFA at undergraduate level. In addition, classes of ACCA and International Marketing were also offered in relevant departments, brought in line with international teaching methodology and resources. The characteristics of “interaction and mutual promotion between teaching and learning, combination of Chinese and western school ideas, integration of educational resources at home and abroad and introduction of favourable sources for student’s growth” has been gradually formed in JUFE. In the past ten years, over 1000 students have studied abroad during their undergraduate study in counties like UK, Austria, Finland, Netherland, Germany and France, over 300 students among whom were accepted by the best world-renowned universities as postgraduate students, namely, Oxford University, Cambridge University, Imperial College, London School of Economics and Johns Hopkins University and so on. JUFE started to accept the first batch of international students from Austrian in 1999. Up to now, over 30 courses of Economics and Management and 30 courses of Chinese language and Culture are delivered in English. In 2013, JUFE was granted the qualification of accepting international students receiving Chinese Government Scholarship, thus eligible to accept international students receiving Chinese Government Special Scholarship Program-Cooperative Program with Provinces and Autonomous Regions, Chinese Government Scholarship-Central and Eastern European Credit-Student Program and Jiangxi Province Government Scholarship.

JUFE enrolls students from the 30 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in China and is listed as the Key Universities in the 27 provinces. In 2012, the admission scores for 20 categories of subjects exceeded the provincial line by 40 points in Jiangxi Province, with the highest over 87 points. The Cast Archive scores for subjects of Arts and Sciences in our school were 14 points and 21 points respectively higher than the normal line of the key university, which places JUFE the first place in Jiangxi Province. Admission scores for other levels have increased year by year.

For the past years, the student employment of JUFE has maintained a good momentum. In 2010, JUFE was rated by Ministry of Education of PRC as one of the “Top Fifty Experienced Model Universities of Student Employment”. In 2012, the initial employment rate of JUFE graduates, undergraduates, junior college students ranked the first in Jiangxi Province, and the rates of other levels were in a leading position in Jiangxi universities. Thus, JUFE was awarded the honors of “Advanced University of the Employment of College Graduates”, “Good Grades in the Evaluation of Employment of College Graduates” in Jiangxi Province. Also, JUFE was recognized by State Council of PRC as “Top 15 National Advanced Universities of Student Employment” in the same year.

Since it was established, JUFE has trained more than 100 thousand talents of all kinds. Most of them have become the backbone of their working places, and some are top elites in the circles of business, politics and academics at home and abroad. Famous alumni of JUFE are listed as follows: Wang Wenjing, former Vice Chairman of the National Federation of Commerce, Chairman of UF Software; Zheng Yuewen, former Vice Chairman of the National Federation of Commerce, CEO of Corey Group; Liu Jiayi, General Auditor of the National Audit Office; Wei Chao-an, Party Secretary of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region; Xie Ru, Hu Youtao, Yao Mugen, Deputy Governors of Jiangxi Province; Wu Xiaoqiu, the famous economist of Renmin University of China; Qin Rongsheng, famous scientist of accounting and auditing, Party Secretary of Beijing National Accounting Institute, and many other well-known experts and scholars. Because of these achievements, JUFE has always been the highlight of the media. In the past three years, People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency, Guangming Daily, China Central Television, China Education, Jiangxi Daily, Jiangxi TV and many other central and local medias have reported JUFE for nearly a thousand times.
