  • At a time when JUFE’s teachers and students were united in the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic, overseas cooperative universities, such asUniversity College Cork inIreland, Okayama Shoka University inJapan, Coventry University and the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom, respectively sent letters or videos to President Lu Fucai, which expressed consolation to JUFE, and full support to China's epidemic prevention and control. The most important thing was that they believed that China would overcome the epidemic at an early date.

“At this difficult time, I would like to express our unswerving support for JUFE.” In an autographed letter to President Lu Fucai, President Patrick G.O'Shea ofUniversity CollegeCorksaid, "This is a time with anxiety and hardships. Please convey our deep concerns to your colleagues, because we are closely interconnected with each other." The letter also expressed gratitude for JUFE's care and efforts for University College Cork's overseas students in China, and they looked forward to more exchanges and cooperation between the two universities so as to move forward together for a better future.

"This epidemic has also made us anxious and empathic." Ijijie Akio, President of Okayama Shoka University, wrote a letter to express his deep concerns to the Chinese people, believing that as long as we work together to fight the epidemic, we will certainly be able to overcome it. Finally, he said to President Lu Fucai, "I sincerely pray that you can defeatCOVID-19and life can get back to normal as soon as possible."

A few days ago, on behalf of Coventry University and Confucius Institute, Vice President David Pilsbury in the UK sent a video to JUFE to express his concerns. David said that in this difficult period, we would walk together to support China and maintain normal cooperation and exchanges. Professor Liu Youfa, Chinese Dean of the Confucius Institute of Coventry University, also said in the video that although we were thousands of miles apart, the heart of every teacher is always connected with the motherland. In a foreign country, they would stay in their posts and hope for the victory of the epidemic!

At the same time, the representatives ofthe University ofSouthamptonin the UK sent a warm video with the theme "Be with you! Soton is in Action!" to JUFE to cheer for China and Wuhan.

Overseas cooperative universities such as Massey University in New Zealand, University of Florence in Italy, Lenoir-Rhyne University in the United States, University of Applied Science and Technology in St. Gallen in Switzerland, and UPAEP in Mexico have also sent e-mails to express encouragement and regards to JUFE.

As a Chinese old saying goes, “Though separated by a mountain, we’ll share the same clouds and rain. The bright moon belongs not to a single town. ” The support and blessings of overseas cooperative institutions will become the driving force for JUFE to move forward. Entrusted by President Lu Fucai, the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange promptly responded to letters from overseas partners, saying that all people in JUFE are willing to work with overseas partner institutions to help each other and overcome difficulties.

United, there is nothing we can not do.
