  • Three Undergraduate Students Delivered Speeches at the Conference Titled the “Next Generation of Japanese Studies”

  • ​Recently, Zhang Fan, Wang Leiping, and Xiao Pei, majoring in Japanese at the School of Foreign Languages, spoke at the international conference titled the Next Generation of Japanese Studies. Sponsored by the University of Tsukuba, the conference was organized by JUFE, Waseda University, Peking University, Beijing Normal University, and Dongbei University of Finance and Economics.

    Zhang Fan made a speech entitled A Comparative Study of Chinese and Japanese Homographs for Emotional Expression at the conference. Taking the two words (annoy) and (surprise) as the examples, Zhang conducted a detailed comparative study of Chinese and Japanese homographs expressing emotions in terms of meaning, part of speech, emotional coloring, and usage methods. Wang Leiping delivered a speech titled Acquisition of Chinese Conjunctions and Japanese Conjunctions by Japanese Learners in China-Based on the Perspective of Mother Tongue Transfer. Wang introduced the initial research, experimental methods, and experimental process. From the experimental results, she discussed the Japanese learners' acquisition and the influence by their mother tongue when learning the same collocations used in Japan and China, Japanese-specific collocations, and Chinese-specific collocations. Xiao Pei gave a speech titled Words Recitation Methods-Visual Memory and Auditory Memory at the conference. Xiao mainly studied the effect of visual memory and auditory memory in reciting words. Additionally, he elaborated on the background, preliminary research, research purpose, research process, and research results of this study.

    In the Q&A session, the three students received wide recognition and valuable suggestions from experts from Beijing Normal University, Shanghai International Studies University, and Dongbei University of Finance and Economics.
